About Christensen Harbison Optometrists

As the name suggests, Christensen Harbison Optometrists is a family business. Established in 1952, our name honours our history, recognising the people who were pivotal in creating and forming the business that it is today.

70 years on, Christensen Harbison Optometrists is owned and operated by local family Anthony and Rachel Mulvahil. Anthony has over 25 years of experience in optometry and practice management and has been with the practice since 2006. Rachel has a degree in Business and is an experienced Team Leader and entrepreneur. Together they are committed to continuing to provide the type of caring and comprehensive service that locals have come to know and trust.

Meet your optometrists:

Anthony Mulvahil

Anthony joined the team at Christensen Harbison Optometrists in 2006 after moving to the area to be closer to family. Having graduated from QUT as an optometrist in 1999, he completed a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2011. Anthony went on to join John Harbison as a partner and co-director in 2015 and upon John’s retirement in 2022, took over the business with his wife Rachel. When he’s not at the practice giving exceptional service and care, you’ll find him with his wife and two sons, at the beach, watching documentaries or cheering on the North Queensland Cowboys.

Sarah Hawe

Sarah joined the team at Christensen Harbison Optometrists in 2022. Sarah grew up in Bundaberg and attended Shalom Catholic College. Having an interest in optometry, Sarah went on to QUT and completed a Bachelor of Vision Science and Masters of Optometry in 2018. Sarah has since added to her studies, with a Graduate Certificate in Children’s Vision in 2022. Sarah enjoys spending her free time with family and friends, reading and trying to beat her Parkrun PB.
